Vintage Abingdon Pottery USA #480 Blue Compote/Console/Centerpiece Dish

I know nothing about this dish--purchased with a few other things.  I did notice today it has a brown ring around the bowl, don't know whether it should be there or not???? Dish is 17 inches long counting the design edges. 7 inches wide at biggest point.  This bowl does weigh 4 lbs alone
