Description
Vintage 1930's Art Deco Etched Rolled Gold Wide Buckle BraceletDates to the Art Deco era, circa 1930.
Crafted with what appears to be a rolled gold layer over copper or similar base metal. This came to me with a very dark patina, but it polished up so beautifully!
Simply marked "KERCO". It took a bit of work, but I finally found this to be the mark of Kerco Jewellery Ltd. of Montreal, QC, Canada, which appears to have operated from the 1930's until the early 1950's. Not much else could be found on this company, nor could I find any similar pieces that they've produced.
The bracelet has a buckle motif, which of course means binding love, loyalty, & eternity. The buckle actually functions as the closure of this piece, and it opens with a gentle squeeze and a flick of the buckle top. Three different belt holes allow the wearer to adjust the bracelet to the size they desire, so this is adjustable and will accommodate most wrists easily.
The etching on this piece is intricate and gorgeous, and goes around the entire circumference of the bracelet.
The bracelet measures 1.25" (32 mm) from top to bottom at the buckle, with an average width of 0.92" (23 mm) along the 'belt'. Inner diameter varies from 7" to "8.
Condition is good to very good, with no damages noted.
