    Description

The Harker Pottery Co., of East Liverpool, Ohio and later Chester, West Virginia, is commonly called the, "Oldest Pottery in America." It was started in a log cabin in 1840 by Benjamin Harker and remained on its original site for ninety-one years (it closed in 1972). These four salad plates are from Harker's "Cameoware" line of dinnerware, one of its most recognizable and well loved patterns of the late 1940's and early 1950's. The plates measure 7 1/4" in diameter across the center and are in good used condition with no chips, but all four plates have crazing; two of the plates have noticeable stains underglaze (see photos 4 thru 7- use zoom) and one plate has a very tight hairline crack on the rim (see 10th photo).
