These beauties are bursting with style in a lovely sage green with ivy leaf pattern and coordinating solid sage green pieces! Set includes: 4 Dinner Plates • 5 Salad Plates • 4 Lugged bowls • 6 Saucers and 4 cups/mugs. Oven & dishwasher proof and made in the USA these beauties have stood the test of time and are ready to add glam to your retro inspired dining room or kitchen table for many years to come! The Harker Pottery Co., of East Liverpool, Ohio and later Chester, West Virginia, is commonly called the, "Oldest Pottery in America." It started in a log cabin in 1840 by Benjamin Harker, and remained on its original site for ninety-one years. In 1931 the plant moved across the river to Chester and took over the old Edwin M. Knowles plant. According to
the Collector's Encyclopedia of American Dinnerware
by Jo Cunningham, "The Jeanette Glass Company bought Harker and closed it down in March of 1972. Another company, Ohio Stoneware, Inc., made crock-pot liners in the building until it was totally destroyed by a fire in September of 1975."
Dish set is in excellent vintage condition! The usual light pre-loved utensil surface wear and a glaze pop or two here and there from years of adding flair to Betty's Sunday suppers, but nothing that distracts! 1 mug, 1 saucer, 2 salad plates and 2 dinner plates have a tiny fleabite to rim, but also does not distract.
