Description

The Abingdon Pottery Fleur De Lis Bowl #531 was made only in 1941, the last year that their designs came out in semi-annual catalogs before all that changed with WWII in 1942.
This low bowl sits on an oval round 3-ribbed base that is almost 6-1/2 inches in diameter.  The design detail has a fleur de lis that fans up to the center on 2 sides & carries into the inside rim.  It has a rich green gloss glaze that I believe is Abingdon's "fern green" that only appeared in their two 1941 catalogs.  The large console bowl is about 14 inches by 9 inches.  The top rim is about 2-1/2 inches above the table.  It is clearly marked with the Abingdon U.S.A. in a rectangle mark on the bottom.  Shape number 531 is clearly impressed on the bottom.
Being offered for only 1 year, the Fleur de Lis bowl is hard to find.  My blue one is pictured on page 100 of the 1997 Abingdon Pottery reference book "Abingdon Pottery Artware" by Joe Paradis.
It is in very good vintage condition - no chips or hairlines or crazing.
