2021 marks the beginning of a new chapter for the U.S. Mint's American Silver Eagle series. After thirty-five years of issue with relatively unchanged graphics, the Mint has replaced the classic heraldic eagle reverse design with a dramatic new realistic image of an Eagle Landing. The Type-2 Silver Eagle will continue to feature the time-honored rendition of Walking Liberty on the obverse.
This 2021-W American Silver Eagle proof coin represents the first release of the Type-2 Eagle Landing design.
The 40.60 mm diameter proof silver dollar contains 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
The coin is a West Point Mint product, struck with the "W" Mint mark.
The coin's enhanced security features include a new anti-counterfeit reeded edge variation.
The coin will ship in its original Mint packaging with an Authenticity Certificate.
Magnificent Type-2 Silver Eagle Design
Obverse: Lady Liberty is illustrated on the obverse carrying a bundle of oak and laurel branches, while walking toward the rising sun, draped in an American flag. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2021" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The iconic Walking Liberty image created by award-winning medallic sculptor Adolph A. Weinman is borrowed from the 1916 U.S. circulating half dollar design. Although Walking Liberty has adorned the Silver Eagle since the series' inception in 1986, the Type-2 releases are the first to include the artist's distinctive "AW" monogram.
Reverse: The reverse features a stunningly beautiful eagle in flight, with its wings raised in preparation for landing. In its talons, the creature grips an oak branch intended for its nest. The image is bordered by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER" and "ONE DOLLAR," with the West Point Mint mark "W" located in the polished field above the eagle's tail feathers. The Type-2 Eagle Landing graphic is the work of Emily Damstra, a member of the U.S. Mint's Artistic Infusion Program since 2014.

Purchases of Bullion Items may not be returned or cancelled for any reason, at any time, but in the event of a manufacturer's defect; it may be exchanged for the same item, within the Company's sole discretion, if otherwise available. In addition to Bullion Items, there are other items from time to time which may not be returned or cancelled for any reason. If the product has been altered, is not in its original coin capsule, or is otherwise in an unsaleable condition, the product will not be accepted for return or exchange. All documents and bonus items included with the product must also be returned. If the product is not returned with all original packaging and bonus items, is incomplete, or is returned after the 30-day return period, the Company reserves the right not to accept the return or to accept the return subject to a 20% restocking fee, in the Company's sole discretion. All returns with a purchase price over 0 must include a Return Authorization Number. Refunds of non-bullion items are for the cost of product only; shipping and handling charges are not refundable, unless otherwise stated by Company.
