2020(S) Amer. Silver Eagle MS70 First Day San Fran. Emergency Issue-Lot of 10
This listing is for a lot of 10 coins. These coins were part of the Emergency Production of Silver American Eagles minted at the San Francisco mint. They are graded a perfect MS70 by PCGS and are First Day Issue.
Due to the world-wide pandemic, the US Mint authorized the emergency production of 1 million 2020 Silver Eagles to be minted in San Francisco. This makes the 2020(S) one of the rarest bullion issue Silver Eagles in the series' 34 year history.
Bullion Silver Eagles do not bear mint marks - San Francisco releases were identified only by the serial numbers on the sealed monster boxes shipped from the Mint.
The obverse of the coin depicts Adolph A. Weinman's full-length figure of Liberty in stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left.
The reverse was designed by John Mercanti and shows a heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left.
