Description

Exceptionally Detailed, 1827 Capped Bust Silver Half Dollar. This coin was salvaged from the wreckage of the SS New York, that sunk in route to Galveston Texas in 1846. The coin remained undesturbed for 161 years, where is sat until recovered in 2007. NGC was selected for encapsulation and certification, confirming the pedigree. Of all the four major shipwreck reoveries, coins from the SS New York are the most elusive.
